"We understand the importance of improved rail and transport options for the people of Newcastle and will be working hard to deliver this world class infrastructure with minimal disruption," Mr O'Rourke said. "We've been heavily engaged in the early works to support the main design and construct contract and are busy preparing for the truncation of the main line on Boxing Day. "Laing O'Rourke teams are experienced in this part of the network and with the Hunter supply chain through our long term work on track, signalling and power upgrades to the commuter and freight networks.'' Ms Berejiklian said the government had responded to the criticism levelled at the first interchange design, and had commissioned Laing O'Rourke to do better. ''The contractor's first job will be to improve the design of the interchange from the artist's impression shared earlier this year,'' she said. ''We want the people of Newcastle to get a transport interchange they can be proud of.'' Ms Berejiklian confirmed the contract would include a fully accessible pedestrian bridge over the rail corridor near Railway Street. It will also include train stabling yards near Hamilton station. "I know that ray bans sunglasses wayfarer pedestrian access to replace the Railway Street level crossing is something that local businesses and the community really want, so we have worked hard to ensure it can be delivered as part of the Wickham interchange project,'' she said. Construction of the new interchange and stabling facilities is expected to be complete in late 2016 while construction of the light rail line is scheduled to start in late 2015. Between Boxing Day and January 4, all Hunter and Newcastle line trains will terminate at Broadmeadow. Buses will connect rail passengers with the CBD until January 5 when Hamilton becomes the temporary terminus while the Wickham interchange is built.
