4m Cystic Fibrosis centre officially opened in Castlebar An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, officially opened the specialised cystic fibrosis respiratory unit on the grounds of Mayo University Hospital, last Friday.
The opening took place in front of the new CF Unit. The Taoiseach first turned sod on the site in December 2013, the completion of the new cystic fibrosis facility for adults ??? ??? and children is welcomed with the Taoiseach commenting that there has long been a need to develop a specialised cystic fibrosis facility in the region. The new centre will, for the first time, provide dedicated facilities for all of the regular out patient and day care needs of children and young people with CF in the greater Mayo area. Speaking at the launch An Taoiseach Enda Kenny said, "It is just over two years ago that I was given the honour of turning the first sod on the site of the new Day Care Centre and Outpatient facility for people with Cystic Fibrosis in Mayo University Hospital. I am delighted to be returning to officially open the new facility in Castlebar. Everybody involved with this project can be immensely proud of their achievement. Cystic Fibrosis is the most common genetically inherited disease in Ireland and the need for such a facility is well recognised. Despite our small size, we have the highest proportion of who sells ray bans people anywhere living with this condition. That is why the completion of this facility is such a significant milestone for improving health care services in the West." The CF day care ray ban glasses sale centre was built through a partnership between the Mayo University Hospital/HSE and charitable funding and other support provided by Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (the national CF patient group) and CF West (a regionally based CF hospital build fund). The general manager of Mayo University Hospital, Charlie Meehan, said the new facility will enable the first class cystic fibrosis team at the hospital to continue to deliver high quality care in state of the art clinical facilities. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive systems.
Ireland has the highest incidence and the highest carrier rate of CF in the world. One in 19 Irish people carry the altered CF gene. When both parents have the altered gene they have a 1 in 4 chance gafas rayban of having a child born with CF.
