Aberdeen Dream Walk through the front door of this year's Y Dream Home and it doesn't take long to notice there's something different from years past.
It might be the look of the house, which is a balance between rustic and state of the art. The wood panelled ceiling is stained to enhance the grain and knots and the ray ban rb3016 wide planked engineered hardwood floor is hand scraped and distressed. "It gives you a really nice feel. It gives you a rustic feel," said Bryce Herman, director of marketing for the Dream Home Lottery. But the rest of the house, with its custom Excel cabinets, gas fireplace and open plan, provides the $599,000 Dream Home with a modern finish. "You've got these great, contemporary lines in the (kitchen) cabinets, a glass backsplash. Everything is very contemporary looking," he said. And the 3,100 square foot home that awaits its new owner at 2290 Linfield Dr. in Aberdeen was also designed with a sunglasses shop ray ban family in mind. Last year's Dream Home in Sun Rivers was a successful experiment in self generating power and energy efficiency, he said. The latest Dream Home is still built to the highest energy saving standards, but it's four bedrooms, den, spacious recreation area and media room are suitable for a couple with two ray ban cats or more children. In fact, the den and media room could easily be converted into bedrooms, creating more living space for a growing family, said Herman. "The house could be a five or six bedroom home in a heartbeat," he said. "It uses its space very well." The home was built by the Canadian Home Builders Association Central Interior in partnership with Thompson Rivers University. Unlike the last five years, the Dream Home wasn't built in Sun Rivers. Herman said a call to tender for lots is put out every year and a number of potential properties are considered. ray bansunglasses The lot with the best location and building potential is selected. "Is this going to be a lot that the students are going to be able to build on? Is it challenging?" are the questions that are asked. The first Dream Home was built on Aberdeen Drive 15 years ago. There are 10,000 tickets up for grabs this year, leaving a one in 38 chance that participants will win the Dream Home or any of the other 266 prizes the most ever offered in the lottery's history, said Herman. Naturally, the home is the prize every ticket buyer is after. And Herman doubts the winner will be disappointed. For one thing, it comes with all the appliances, including a washer, dryer and Maytag fridge and stove. The laundry room is equipped with a drying closet that's hooked into the heating and air conditioning system. Herman said a quick spin in the dryer and 10 to 15 minutes in the closet and your clothes are dry. And Telus has promised to provide the homeowner with free cable TV, Internet and phone for a year. "We wanted it to be over the top this year," said Herman. The basement floor is stamped concrete and radiant heated with hot water piped in a continuous flow. "It's endless hot water. You heat what your use," he said. People with little free time to tend to the lawn will enjoy the artificial turf in the backyard. Herman said the patch off the back deck looks like real grass but will never have to be mowed or watered.
